Cheryl is a 2003 graduate of the University of Kansas Medical Center. Cheryl has been a pediatric physical therapist for 20 years. She has worked in a variety of settings such as home-based early intervention, acute care/hospital based, school based but most extensively in the outpatient setting. In 2022, she was recognized by the Wichita Business Journal for Excellence in Health Care. Cheryl has specialized training in aquatic therapy, neuro-development treatment, gait analysis (toe walking) and treatment for torticollis and plagiocephaly.
She has presented lectures on Exercise Prescription for Children with Disabilities and Congenital Muscular Torticollis and Deformational Plagiocephaly. Cheryl has also participated as a data collector for the On Track Study that looked at developmental trajectories and reference percentiles for range of motion, muscle strength and endurance for children with cerebral palsy.
Cheryl is passionate about working with children and their families on ways to achieve their goals and reach their fullest potential in order for them to become as independent as possible later in life.
Cheryl is married and has 2 daughters. In her spare time, she enjoys supporting the girls participating in their extracurricular activities, running, traveling and cheering on the Shockers or Jayhawks.
Teresa, a 1996 graduate of Newman University, has over 20 years of experience as a pediatric occupational therapist. She has had the privilege of serving children in diverse settings, including home-based early intervention, schools, hospitals, and outpatient clinics. Teresa is a passionate advocate for early intervention and strongly believes in a collaborative, team-based approach to therapy. She is dedicated to involving both children and families in the therapeutic process, recognizing that their active participation is crucial to helping children thrive and reach their fullest potential.
In addition to her extensive experience, Teresa has specialized training in Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) and Pediatric Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT), both of which enhance her ability to support children with various developmental challenges.
Teresa is married and a proud mother of four children. She enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with family.

Kari Filippi is a highly experienced Physical Therapy Assistant with almost three decades of clinical practice across a wide range of care settings. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Organization and Policy and an Associate of Science in Physical Therapist Assistant, with all of her degrees earned at Wichita State University, a place that shaped both her professional foundation and personal life.
Kari began her career in acute rehabilitation, skilled nursing, and long-term care, where she developed strong clinical skills, adaptability, and a deep understanding of patient needs across the lifespan. These experiences continue to inform her work today. Over time, her passion for working with children led her to transition into pediatric care, where she found a natural alignment with Pediatric Therapy Center of Wichita’s commitment to helping children achieve meaningful independence through compassionate, individualized therapy.
Kari brings a broad clinical perspective to pediatric therapy, blending evidence-based practice with patience, creativity, and family-centered care. She is deeply committed to supporting each child’s unique abilities while partnering closely with families to promote progress beyond the clinic setting. Her approach reflects the Pedicatric Therapy Center’s mission to empower children to reach their fullest potential through collaboration, consistency, and encouragement.
Known for building strong relationships with patients, families, and colleagues, Kari brings professionalism, reliability, and heart to her work every day. She takes pride in creating a supportive and engaging environment where children feel safe, motivated, and capable.
Outside of work, Kari enjoys spending time with her husband who she met while at Wichita State and their three children. Originally from Aurora, Colorado, she has made Wichita her home and is proud to serve children and families in the community.

Gilbert has been a therapist since 2016 with a strong emphasis on working in outpatient pediatric services. He enjoys working with children with a variety of diagnoses and helping them build skills that support their independence and success. During therapy sessions, Gilbert works on areas such as feeding, emotional regulation strategies, vision, fine motor skills, visual motor integration, and self-care skills, always tailoring sessions to meet each child’s unique needs.

Outside of work, Gilbert enjoys spending time with his family, participating in sports activities, and cheering on the Boston Red Sox, Denver Broncos, and Kansas State Wildcats.
